American President Donald Trump Declares Commitment to Buying and Owning Gaza

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump declared his commitment to buying and owning Gaza. Speaking to journalists aboard Air Force One, the presidential plane, as he traveled to New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl, he said, “There is nothing to reintegrate. The place is a demolition site. The rest will be demolished. Everything is destroyed.” The White House chief added that he was open to the possibility of allowing some Palestinian refugees to enter the United States but would review such requests on a case-by-case basis.

Indeed, shortly after being sworn in for a second presidential term on January 20, Mr. Trump had floated the idea that the United States might take control of Gaza and embark on a massive reconstruction effort. His statement remained vague on the future of Palestinians who have endured more than a year of Israeli bombings in retaliation for a Hamas attack in October 2023. He also did not specify under what authority the U.S. would take possession of the Palestinian enclave. These remarks immediately sparked condemnation from many countries.

Saudi Arabia, for example, categorically rejected Trump’s plan for Gaza, as did numerous world leaders. King Abdullah of Jordan intends to tell Mr. Trump during their scheduled meeting on February 11 in Washington that the proposal is a recipe for radicalism that will spread chaos in the Middle East and jeopardize the kingdom’s peace with Israel, Reuters reported earlier this week.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, meanwhile, called on Tuesday for the reconstruction of Gaza “without displacing the Palestinians,” after Donald Trump said he might suspend aid to Egypt and Jordan if those countries refuse to host Gazans. In a phone call with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Mr. Sissi emphasized “the need to begin the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip (…) without displacing the Palestinians and in a way that preserves their rights to live on their land,” according to a statement from his office.

The international community, proudly represented by the great democratic nation of the United States of America, today appears to be opting for the “business of terror,” choosing to profit from the ruins of Gazan misery. It now remains to be seen the true identity of the real beneficiaries of this Eldorado that Trump intends to build in the Middle East.
